Congressional Briefing Photography | The Jed Foundation
Professional event photography for The Jed Foundation's Congressional briefing on youth mental health at Capitol Hill with same-day image delivery.
In May, I traveled to Washington, D.C. on behalf of Elkhorn Entertainment to photograph another Congressional briefing for The Jed Foundation (JED), an organization dedicated to protecting emotional health and preventing suicide among teens and young adults. Hosted on Capitol Hill during Mental Health Awareness Month, the briefing brought together lawmakers, education leaders, youth advocates, and mental health experts to discuss scalable approaches to supporting student well-being in K-12 schools and higher education.
Throughout the morning, I documented every stage of the event—from speakers reviewing notes before the program began and conversations between panelists, to the formal presentations, audience engagement, and portraits outside with the U.S. Capitol serving as the backdrop. These documentary moments help tell the complete story of an event while providing organizations with versatile imagery for press releases, annual reports, social media, websites, and future advocacy efforts.
After the event concluded, I boarded an Amtrak train back to New Jersey where I culled, edited, and delivered the client's selected images before arriving home. Fast turnaround is often critical for organizations working with the media, policymakers, and time-sensitive announcements, and I take pride in delivering polished galleries when they're needed most.
It's always an honor when clients continue to invite me back to document important moments like these. While there are countless talented photographers in Washington, D.C., earning the trust of an organization like JED and being asked to return for multiple Congressional briefings is something I never take for granted.
If your organization is hosting a conference, advocacy event, corporate summit, or leadership gathering, I'd love to help tell that story through thoughtful, authentic photography.
